Anyone read either of these two? The former is dialog between crown Prince Arjuna, and his deity, Khrishna, of the former's being against going to war, the latter is some of the philosophical premises of Hinduism. I'm reading 'The Principal Upanishads, the Essential Foundation of Hinduism'. It's interesting to see not only the oldest known spiritual philosophy but what different faiths have in common. I'm seeing some principles, for example the qualities of someone visited by 'the spirit' in both the Kena Upanishad, "Counsciousness, Self, Peace, Love" & in Gallatians chapter of the New Testament, 5:22-23, "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control."

I've heard of it, but never read any of that.

It's interesting...you might see the origins of the Judeo Christian Bible in it. Hinduism was never linked to any particular historical event, prophet, or figure, but I'm seeing some similar truths the Bible offers in it.

I find the oragin of the various religious texts interesting regarding the adoption of, and addition to, myths, folk tales, etc. The creation myth, the great flood, etc. We'd have less problems though if people would just admit that we wrote these a long time ago, and they are just books. believe in something if you want, but, your choice to believe is just an opinion. Alas, I doubt that will ever happen on a world wide scale.
